2 things: might just be me, but the new messages counter still displayed zerowhen I had a new pm. I noticed this from my iPod touch (that I'm posting from now). So the cache was clean. 2nd problem (and for me personally it's a big one), the new post button when viewing the forum on an iPhone or iPod touch DOES NOT follow the forum as you scroll meaning not only does it appear under the 1st post and stay thre, but the text box (like right now for example) obstructs the first two posts. This -for me - is a major issue as ALL of my clients are iPhone/iPod touch customers. Oh and just spotted iPhone/iPod touch issue 3: if I try and use the exclimation mark icon it will simply push me out of my text box to the top of the forum again. :(

Thought u all might appreciate the feedback.

iPhone/iPod touch issue 5789: once a post is made it doesn't auto add itself. Instead, you have to re-enter the topic to view it.

Oh and one extra bit of feedback before I forget: the drill-down for the boards to topic at the top is going form right to left. Any chance of being able to have it going from left to right as for westerners using forums it's infinitely more natural to read.

----------------------------------

Ok, I'm back on my PC now (using firefox). The iphone/ipod touch issues might be a Safari browser issue, so I'll test it on my Hackintosh later on. Here's the images I took from my touch of the problem I described in my last post:

And yea, the ! button on a touch/iphone does force the browser window to insta-skip to the top of the forum again. I have NO idea why that button does that (but it definitely does)! Looks like most of my testing will be on my touch and iphone (as that's who my product is aimed at).

New Bug: I installed a 'Mod Bar' board on my forum and then made it accessable to Global Moderators only. So I logged out to make sure it wasn't visible to guests and it wasn't. So as my UN/PW was already saved in the fields I clicked on 'Stay Logged In' and then Log In. It just doesn't log in anymore and spits me back to the main page not logged in! *update* Yea, even after a full forced refresh I still can't re-log back into my forum again! Must be some sort of cookies issue. I'll clear them out to see if it makes a difference, but that defanitely needs sorting as once you've done what I've done, you can't re-log back in again! :(

*edit 2* Yep, you HAVE to delete your cookies and re-log in to fix the problem I mention above.

Also, where in the HELL are the smilies when making a post!? I can't find them!

Thanks for the (great) feedback. So far we've been concentrating on making Taiga Forum look great on PCs; however, all of these iPod/iPhone problems will be fixed with the release of our iPhone style. Looks like we need to roll that out ASAP.

Smiley shortcut buttons haven't been implemented yet (though you can still use the old "aiwebs" smilies you might remember from m2k2). Buttons will come soon, but I'm going to focus on getting the iPhone style ready first.

Interesting observation I've just made: If you view a topic (may be because I created it), if I'm not logged in the thread shows as 0 views and 0 replies before you enter it. This topic is the prime example and ONLY when I logged in did the main board show that this thread had a reply! Cookies issue again?

Great find here. Guests' cache wasn't being cleared. This should be fixed now.

We definitely need to get the iPhone style out ASAP. I would like to make it to where it defaults to that style if you're a new visitor to a Taiga Forum on an iPhone. I'll have to read up on how to do that.

Do you need a style designed for the iphone though? I know this isn't phpBB but that seems to run fine on an iphone/ipod touch as is. It seems it's the real-time text entry box that's causing the biggest issue. Could that not be fixed in the main code for when Iphone's access it (rather than design a whole new style just for iphone users)?

*edit* Just changed my profile to read in location: aka: Andrew Mills and nothing is showing in the left hand side. Is this a design choice from yourselves or a bug? Whilst this isn't phpBB it's the one I and a LOT of people are most exposed to (generally speaking). Can you let users choose any or all of the profile settings to appear under their name on the left? Or would that be too much of a ball ache?

Well, I don't want to speak for Samuel, but I'm sure he'll probably just derive something from one of the existing styles for the iPhone style. My guess is that it will be almost the same as one or more of the existing styles, but without the "fixed" (or whatever it's called) scrolling elements like the new post entry box, which Safari on the iPhone doesn't seem to like (my guess is that it's just too slow to show scrolling with some objects fixed, so they just disabled support for it entirely).

I'm actually surprised we don't let you show location on every post now. As far as I know, there's no reason we can't go ahead and make most or all of the profile fields options for display on posts under Appearance.

Yes, I'm planning on just modifying Taiga Blue slightly to run better on the iPhone. When Taiga Forum becomes more widely used I'll at least expand iPhone styles to include Taiga Green and Taiga Red, too.

The original reasoning for not including all profile fields on posts was to reduce the height of posts during quick, back and forth conversation (one line per post, that sort of thing) so that more posts could be displayed on-screen at once. Now that users can choose which fields appear on posts, though, there doesn't seem to be a good reason to not include them all as options. I'll work on getting this into an upcoming version.
